Steps Toward a Brighter Future
CARE Steps is a non-profit corporation that is the core of the CARE Housing Services philosophy. We believe stable communities are achieved by providing services that enable our residents to take the steps that help strengthen their self-reliance, and improve the quality of their lives:
- Resident Education Program
- Onsite Service Coordination
- After School Centers
- Linkage & Referral
- CARE Homebuyer Program
- CARE Homebuyer Education
Resident Education Program
The CARE Resident Education Program (CAREresidenteducation.com) provides residents with online assistance in daily living, and opportunities for self-improvement. Working with public and private partners, we offer resident programs that address housing, education, employment, computer technology, child care, health care and other types of counseling.
Available online, CARE Resident Education introduces residents to the skills necessary for succeeding in the real world, from basics such as reading and writing to using a computer and applying for a job.
Onsite Services Coordination
Our Onsite Service Coordinators provide our residents a hands on approach to meeting specific needs of the resident population. Through a series of ongoing needs assessments and collaboration with the onsite resident managers, our Service Coordinators come up with programming and services that best meet the needs of the building and its residents.
After School Centers
CARE After School, our most popular resident services program, has influenced the lives of young people in extraordinarily positive ways for 15 years. At 16 CARE After School Centers located throughout California, kids from 6 to 17 participate in activities that increase their potential for academic success and healthy social development
CARE After School programs are customized to meet needs for the variety of populations CARE Steps serves. After School Centers are safe, secure places where young residents can engage in supervised activities with an academic focus, tutored by qualified child educators and parent volunteers. Recreation is also emphasized, along with field trips that introduce young people to the culture and amenities of their communities.
Linkage & Referral
CARE Steps understands that in certain instances, other organizations are better qualified and equipped to meet the special needs for many of our residents. Linkage and Referral (a modified Case Management Program) coordinates services from different social service agencies, on behalf of a resident, to resolve a variety of difficulties.
CARE Steps has built strong relationships with community organizations that help people in need. Linkage and Referral introduces residents to key contacts at appropriate agencies and follows up to ensure that services are appropriate and assistance is adequate.
CARE Homebuyer Program
CARE has created a program that will allow individuals who qualify the opportunity for affordable home ownership. CARE believes it can help people remove obstacles that may have kept them from purchasing a home in the past. The CARE Homebuyer Program is designed to put residents in the position to buy a home by helping them achieve freedom from debt, down payment assistance and pre-qualifying them for a mortgage with affordable rates and terms.
CARE Homebuyer Education
The CARE Housing Homebuyer Education Certified Course is used by more than 100 homeownership counseling agencies in more than 40 states to provide education, counseling and certification.
